At Midland Park Family Dentistry, Dr. Caramico and his team pride themselves on providing the latest in technology for the benefit of their New Jersey patients. One of the technologies we utilize everyday for the benefit and comfort of our patients is CEREC technology.
Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic (CEREC) is a revolutionary, computer-assisted tooth restoration process that will change the way you feel about visiting the dentist. Using CEREC technology Dr. Caramico and his team can design, fabricate and fit a new crown, veneer, onlay, or inlay in a single appointment – a procedure that would normally take multiple visits over a 2 – 3 week period.

How CEREC® Works
CEREC® uses computer-assisted design and a 3D printer to design and custom-fit, metal free, crowns or veneers in just one visit.
- Step 1: Exam and Preparation
Before you get started, I’ll evaluate the tooth and determine if CEREC® is right for you. Depending on how much healthy tooth structure you have remaining, it may be a simple filling or you may need a crown. After reviewing your options, we’ll move one step closer to the finished product.
- Step 2: Optical Impression
In order to make the desired restoration, a 3D image of the tooth that needs to be fixed needs to be created. Well take a digital camera scan of the tooth which will be used to create — eliminating the need for bad tasting, messy impressions. Using a computer and the CEREC 3D software,
- Step 3: Milling
Using a computer and the CEREC 3D software the Milling Unit creates the restoration, matching the color of the restoration perfectly with your own teeth.
- Step 4: Fitting the Restoration
With the restoration now made, it’s ready to be tried on to ensure a perfect fit. When it’s ready, I’ll polish and bond it in place – no more temporaries or return visits.
